About

M5 Research is a quantitative finance research group publishing hypothesis-driven work with transparent methodology.

Vision

We believe market research earns trust when its rigor is visible. Our long-run aim is a body of quantitative work whose reasoning can be followed, whose results can be re-run, and whose edge is made legible without exposing the full playbook. Credibility, not spectacle, is the goal.

Mission

Day to day, we form hypotheses about markets and test them against data. Work that reaches the bar for reproducibility is published as abstracts and preprints on SSRN and arXiv, accompanied by open-source repositories, with results disclosed selectively and partial transparency by design. Our methodology describes how a hypothesis becomes published, reproducible research.

Research Philosophy

  • Evidence over narrative — a claim stands on what the data shows, not on how compellingly it is told.
  • Reproducibility as a default — results should be re-runnable from the artifacts we disclose.
  • Honest status over hype — work in progress is labeled as such; nothing is dressed up as finished.
  • Partial transparency by design — enough is shown to make the edge legible, without giving away the full method.
